- Stacks Maintenance: Co-ordinate the activities of student assistants in keeping the collection tidy and in good order.
- Assign daily jobs, check work, and reports to Head of Department on performance.
- Prepare shelf reading schedule and ensure regular shelf reading.
- Oversee training of student assistants, including the shelving, tidying, and straightening, shelf-reading, shifting, and training of the Library of Congress Classification System.
- Directing and Assisting: During weekend operations, assists in overseeing, coordinating and correcting the work of student assistants. Assigns duties and oversees department operations in absence of evening/weekend supervisor.
- During weekend operations, assigns daily jobs and checks work of student assistants, trains new student assistants, and reports to Head of Department on performance. Orients new student assistants to the policies, procedures, and physical space of the library.
- Circulation Desk: Charges out, discharges and renews General Loan, Periodical, Reserve Reading and Equipment items.
- Creates and/or updates patron Records in database.
- Confirms Study Room bookings; enforces time limits and the proper use of the rooms; resolves problems such as double bookings.
- Identifies and explains fines on patron's accounts, accepts payment, and verifies payment.
- Adds print credits.
- Assists in training Student Assistants and new staff.
- Security/Conduct: Checks patron identification.
- Follow emergency procedures when the alarm system is activated.
- Notify campus security in cases of emergency such as power failure, medical emergency, robbery, or threatening confrontation.
- Desensitizes outgoing materials. Checks patrons' personal belongings for library materials when security alarm sounds.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Library and Information Technician (LIT) Diploma or High School graduation and minimum six (6) months related experience.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to function independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of MS Office, internet browsers and e-mail application.
- Good working knowledge of an academic library and its resources
- Experience with an integrated library system an asset.
