The Workforce Development Officer is responsible for the coordination, administration and implementation of workforce attraction, retention, and development activities within the City of Medicine Hat and surrounding communities.

This role will lead and manage labour force development, business owner engagement, and workplace productivity initiatives, through cooperative, collaborative, results-focused partnerships with various stakeholders to strengthen local economic growth and improve local labour and talent supply.

Has thorough knowledge of recruitment practices, labour market conditions and the local business economy.
Advanced communication, facilitation, collaboration and change management skills.
Has a strong understanding of the sociocultural, political, and economic context particularly in fostering favorable diversity and inclusion outcomes across all ethnic cultures and circumstances.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a Bachelors' degree in a Commerce, Business Administration, Human Resources or Communications or a related field from a recognized postsecondary institution.
Five (5) years' directly related experience in business management, human resources, economic development, or community development.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license, with a satisfactory driving record.
An equivalent combination of management approved training and education may be considered.
