Job Summary


The job of the Registered Early Childhood Educator at Maple Tree Non Profit is to provide a quality, caring program to the people in our community that meet the needs of the children and their parents.

We strive to create an interactive and educational environment for our children while maintaining a high code of Ethics and following all guidelines outlined in the Childcare and Early Years Act and licensing policies.

This position reports to the Site Supervisor.


Requirements:


  • Registration and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educator's
  • Understanding of How Does Learning Happen and Elect
  • Knowledge and understanding of the CCEYA
  • First Aid and CPR-C
  • Negative Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Immunization up to date

Supervision

  • Knowledge of ratios
  • Work with the team to adjust ratios as needed in case of staff or child absence
  • Greet guests upon arrival and direct them accordingly
  • Be familiar with parents/guardians for each child
  • Complete head counts consistently
  • Makes safety of the children the top priority
  • Document all injuries according to MTPNP policy and complete incident reports
  • Administers medication in accordance with MTPNP policy
  • Aware of all allergies in the center

Academic Programming

  • Plan, carry out, and assess developmentally appropriate activities with a balance of indoor/outdoor, group/individual, active/quiet options.
  • Plan and implement programs as designed, to stimulate mathematical and literacy skills, incorporate the use of fine and gross motor skills, as well as foster social, emotional, and physical development of children. Provide adequate flexibility in a structured environment.
  • Keep full professional, academic and social records which reflect a detailed ongoing diagnostic assessment and ensure that appropriate follow up work is initiated.
  • Plan and carry out prep work for weekly activities.
  • Understand and utilize Emergent Curriculum and the six areas of Learning
  • Completes ASQ, ASQ-SE, ISP, and progress checklists

Environment

  • Create a fun and enjoyable learning environment that is also safe
  • Reports any hazards to the Site Supervisor and takes corrective measures as appropriate
  • Create an environment that reflects learning in the classroom

Interaction's with Children and Families

  • Forms positive relationships with children and families
  • Prepare for sensitive conversations with parents before they occur
  • Sets appropriate expectations for children following MTPNP philosophy
  • Interacts with children in a positive manner
  • Redirects children that are off task
  • Encourages positive relationships, team work, and independence
  • Promote self esteem
  • Encourage children to express themselves in a variety of ways

Communication

  • Open/ongoing communication between staff
  • Document and read the communication log daily
  • Communicate positively and professionally with staff and parents

Professionalism and Code of Ethics

  • Is familiar with and follows the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined by the College of Early Childhood Educator's
  • Maintain professional relationships with coworkers, supervisors, parents, and children
  • Maintain professionalism when dealing with sensitive information
  • Maintain confidentiality

Salary:
$21.32-$26.54 per hour
