    As the Manager, LEO Satellite Payload Engineering, the incumbent will provide leadership of the LEO Satellite Payload Engineering Group. Promote efficient and effective use of resources in cooperation with other departments/divisions as required, including the assignment of resources to meet the needs of the Lightspeed program. This also includes working in close collaboration with the satellite manufacturer to negotiate and develop requirements and to provide recommendations to senior and executive management.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Provide resource management for the Lightspeed program
    • Maintain effective working relationships within the LEO Satellite Payload Engineering Group and to liaise with other entities within Telesat to ensure the effective execution of the Lightspeed program
    • Provide guidance and technical expertise in the areas of Payload Engineering to junior and senior engineering staff
    • Prepare and present detailed technical reports/presentations for senior and executive management
    • Interface directly with the satellite manufacturer in order to resolve issues as they arise
    • Participate in strategic planning with regards to Lightspeed program development
    • Collaborate with the System Design and System Engineering teams in order to address key system design decisions

    Education and Experience Required

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical or telecommunications engineering specializing in satellite communications.
    • 15+ years of practical experience in satellite communications related to Payload related equipment
    • Strong technical, presentation, interpersonal, written and communication skills
    • Independent and self-motivated
    • Considerable attention to detail
    • The ability to adapt to changing priorities

    Decision Making and Supervision

    • The ability to make informed decisions in a rapidly changing environment
    • Provide advice to engineering and program management related to technical and schedule risk

    Working Conditions

    • Generally comfortable office environment
    • Hybrid minimum 3 days per week in the office
    • Regular travel to Montreal, USA and overseas locations when required
    • Work is generally analytical in nature
