  • Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled in a postsecondary coop program at a recognized educational institution on a fulltime basis and returning to school upon completion of the coop placement.
  • Eligible to work a 4 month or 8 month coop placement.

This position will require the successful incumbent to provide proof of co-op eligibility, a transcript and tax credit form(s) from their school's co-op department.

Job Summary:


Reporting to the Supervisor of Technical & Design Services, this position will provide CADD and technical support for regional infrastructure replacement projects.

Typical duties will include editing region standard drawings, creating/editing maps and research for upcoming projects. Most work will be performed using AutoDesk Civil 3D.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Conduct project research from internal and external sources
  • Compile base plan drawing information using survey data, historical information, CCTV reports, GIS data and permit information
  • Perform field edits if required
  • Occasionally visit construction sites
  • Edit existing maps and drawings
  • Create maps for various groups within Halton Region
  • Archive digital "As Constructed" drawings
  • Plot documents and drawings
  • Support Supervisors, CAD team and Clerk
  • Assist in other areas of the Engineering & Construction team

Skills & Qualifications:


Essential

  • Currently enrolled in a postsecondary Civil Engineering program
  • Experience working with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel
  • Organization and communication skills
  • Customer service experience

Preferred

  • Prior experience in inspection, survey or utilizing Civil 3D software.

Working/ Employment Conditions:


Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required for this position. The incumbent must provide their own transportation.
  • Long periods of sitting and screen time. Incumbent will have the opportunity to attend design meetings and visit construction sites in Halton Region.
  • Incumbent may be required to occasionally move/carry boxes up to 30lbs.
