Description

The ESG Strategic Analyst constructs and actively communicates with cross-functional departments and HCM group companies to understand their objectives and consolidate into a comprehensive ESG strategy in alignment with HCM and Mining BU Vision.

The ESG Strategic Analyst leads the investigation of prospective ESG partners and conducts strategic research that includes market and financial analysis of these potential partners.

The ESG Strategic Analyst will collaborate with internal and external technical experts in the field of Sustainability and ESG to help create an overall strategy that best matches HCM strategic priorities.


EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS:

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on prospective firms and prepare customized presentations for business executive teams.
  • Collect detailed information on prospect partner companies and becomes highly knowledgeable on the competitive landscape within the Mining and related digital technology areas of consideration.
  • Understand HCM's strategic plans and objectives, particularly as it relates to Sustainability, as well as those of associated group companies, and assess potential target companies in that perspective.
  • Formulate financial analyses to determine commercial value to customers, dealers and internal businesses of potential sustainability solutions developed internally and in collaboration with ecosystem partners.
  • Assess the potential contribution of prospect business to HCM's operating business unit/group company offerings, both from a complementary solution perspective and financial contribution in terms of ROI (Return on Investment) and AOI (Annual Operating Income objectives).
  • Collaborate with senior management and Digital Solution team members.
  • Research reports on market and prospective target ESG partners and solutions.
  • Prepare financial analyses including P&L, ROI and AOI related to prospective ESG solutions.
  • Create presentations that explain strategic relevance and value of potential ESG solutions and/or ecosystem partnerships, including content from above mentioned market and financial analyses.
  • Adhoc requests as required.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIRED:
Experience required is indicative only. All other job specifications must be met.
Experience and Knowledge

  • 35 years' experience in Strategic Analysis, particularly relating to ESG and Sustainability. Focus on Mining industry, particularly Scope 1 equipment emission and Scope 3 value chain is a strong plus.
  • Technical expertise or understanding of ESG related technologies, particularly in mining, is a strong plus.
Skills and Abilities

  • Strong research, analytical modeling, and creation of visual presentation of analyses.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • English fluency, with Japanese fluency written and spoken a plus.
Base salary of CAD $90,000 - $110,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
