The Investment Finance team is seeking an Analyst II to help perform highly specialized accounting and financial reporting functions across breadth and multi-layered investment pool structure for AIMCo's clients.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide guidance to internal and external clients on on-going financial accounting reporting and statutory audits.

You will also support ad hoc accounting projects and initiatives as required by Senior Leadership and the Board to deliver on the Investment Finance - Client Accounting (IFCA) team objectives.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform daily validations and real time updates on accounting reports and internal PowerBI dashboards.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve complex technical issues on accounting systems and dashboards.
  • Maintain Structured Query Language (SQL)/Power BI dashboard changes using existing dataset including formula changes within designated systems as required.
  • Prepare all periodic and annual financial reports to clients with relevant investment related accounting notes and disclosures.
  • Validate accounting information between dashboard, Simcorp Dimension (SCD) and existing Internal rep
  • Ensure system controls operate effectively to support CSAE 3416 reporting requirements.
  • Validate system change requests and perform user acceptance testing (UAT) of new processes and/or assigned projects.
  • Recommend improvements to standard operating procedures and policies that guide IFCA body of work.
  • Respond to accounting and audit queries from internal and external clients
  • Provide audit backup to team and perform any other assigned responsibilities linked to Business As Usual (BAU), divisional or corporate objectives.

One Year Success Measures:

  • Savvy with accounting and financial reporting systems such as SCD, SQL, PowerBI, and AIMCo based reporting tools to fulfil client's reporting needs. Established strong relationships amongst internal and external stakeholders.
  • Business, Accounting, Finance, Computer/Data Science or related Degree/Diploma is preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in financial industry
  • A CPA/CFA designation would be an asset
  • Excellent use of querying and programming languages such as SQL, Python, Snowflake and data visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel with ability to use pivot tables and Microsoft PowerBI to create data models, DAX (data analysis expressions), Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics and training materials would be an asset
  • Good knowledge of capital markets, investment finance and accounting rules and guidelines including GAAP, PASB, IFRS and the Financial Administration Act would be an asset
  • Exceptional at managing rapidly changing work priorities within timelines and can communicate in a verbally and in writing to clients
  • Highly resourceful, has a collaborative approach to work yet can deliver primary assigned tasks.
