Position Overview

At RMC Group of Companies, the Parts Supervisor will oversee the Parts Team at the Edmonton West Plant including coaching and mentoring apprentices, managing inventory, and maintaining supplier relationships.

The Parts Supervisor should be well versed in the heavy-duty equipment and off-road equipment and have a safety conscious mind-set.

Essential Functions

  • Finalize CVIP parts quotes.
  • Receive, update, enter, and process POs.
  • Manage, create, and close workorders as truck maintenance/repairs is in progress.
  • Order parts as needed while maintaining accurate inventory counts.
  • Track truck progress while mechanical work is in progress, updating workorders as needed.
  • Make recommendations for improvements/efficiencies before implementing changes.
  • Order parts for all divisions, locations, departments, and 3rd party customers.
  • Implement best practices and new policies to reduce shrinkage.
  • Work closely with the Shop Manager to ensure smooth operation of the shop, implement changes, and create efficiencies.
  • Maintain, manage, and take inventory of safety supplies for the plant.
  • Lead and coach parts people including mentoring apprentices, creating work schedule/rotations, managing performance, etc.
  • Hire, onboard, and train Parts Runners & Apprentices with support from HR.
  • Pickup parts and help out the parts team as needed.
  • Conduct semiannually parts inventory counts.
  • Coordinate with Procurement Team to secure parts, manage inventory, and establish supplier relationships.
  • Maintain excellent vendor relationships.
  • Advise mechanics on locating parts schematics.
  • Promote a safe working environment and encourage a culture of safety amongst the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Parts Technician Designation is required.
  • 5+ years experience as a Parts Technician.
  • Previous experience managing a team of Parts Technicians and Part Runners.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Working knowledge of heavy duty and automotive parts.
  • Prior experience working with off road equipment is an asset.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Experience using a ERP or inventory management system.
  • Well organized and computer savvy.
  • Valid driver's license and clean drivers abstract.
Work Environment

  • Shop environment
  • Frequent travel to suppliers within Edmonton and area
  • Concrete plant
Hours of Work
The position requires a regular working schedule of Monday through Friday with the potential to work Saturdays as required.

Hours may fluctuate based upon the time of year, with busy seasons potentially requiring 10-12 hour days and slow seasons requiring 8-10 hour days.

Physical Demands
This role may include physically strenuous work from time to time.

The Parts Supervisor works in a shop environment and must be capable of bending, crouching, and lifting parts of up to 30 pounds in weight.

Applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
