Organizational Context & Job Purpose
The Joffre LAO Plant is a petrochemical facility located in Alberta, Canada. Joffre is part of the INEOS Oligomers business and is INEOS's only operation in Canada.

Joffre uses leading proprietary technology to produce Linear Alpha Olefin's that are "intermediate building blocks" used in the manufacture of polyethylene, synthetic motor oils, detergents, lubricant additives and synthetic drilling fluids.

The Joffre LAO plant is a fully self-contained operating unit within the larger Joffre petrochemical complex, which is shared with Nova.

  • This role reports directly to the Joffre Human Resources Manager
  • This is a Safety Sensitive Position

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Embraces and promotes the INEOS 20 Safety Principles.
  • Facilitate & coordinate training programs that may involve external vendors.
  • Assist in maintaining training courses for review, to maintain the current status and add data that is up to date.
  • Maintain regulatory and nonregulatory training history records.
  • Facilitate, participate in the development of the rules and policies for training and completion of software information and courses.
  • Assist in performing routine audits of data on the systems and software.
  • Resetting passwords and supplying this information to users. Troubleshooting reported problems.
  • Utilize external software (Excel) to gather and analyze data of the systems in place.
  • Work with IT department when VTA training material problems are reported that are preventing programs from operating correctly.
  • Manage the Bistrainier, TDG, Stuart Hunt, Responsible Care, SafeStart and Respirator Fit certificates and data.
  • Run specific reports requested by various levels of employees of the company for VTA.
  • Maintain a relationship with NOVA LP and its safety training personnel. Enter schedules of NOVA training in VTA.
  • Maintain a relationship with Health persons for data and information pertaining to many of the trainings that are accomplished in VTA.
  • Maintain consistencies in data entry, format of entry, and progression of the data through each software system.
  • Have the flexibility to deal with nonroutine issues as they arise.
  • Good knowledge of SHE, HR processes & procedures.
  • Have active participation in audits that concern records of training and safety for the plant, such as the 20 Principle audit and others throughout the years.
  • Assist SHE Group in carrying out orientations, respiratory fits, safe work permit, gas monitoring training and confined space procedure training at various times when they require assistance or are not available.
  • Develop training modules using third party software.
  • Procedure System Administrator for the Operations Training Coordinator
  • Main point of contact for scheduling virtual and inperson interviews
  • Updating headcount roster, oncall schedule, on call binders and org charts

Front end support roles

  • Back up to Distribute mail
  • Back up to Update Conference Room Schedule Board daily
  • Back up to Assist employees to book meetings as required
  • Back up for MSDS Online
  • Back up for Greeting visitors: issue photo ID badges as required, provide short orientation video or route visitors to complete orientation as required; produce visitor list in event of an emergency evacuation; maintain backups of system
  • Answer multiline telephone and route calls
  • Assist with United Way Campaign, Adoptafamily and other events
  • Make labels when needed
  • Update safety sign monthly
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of networks, PC's and platform operating systems
  • Additional background knowledge and use of Microsoft products, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Access
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software
  • Experience and knowledge of data management
  • A good understanding of organization's goals and objectives. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • A strong customer service orientation in this case, all levels of management and employee query and troubleshooting
  • Proven analytical problem solving abilities
  • Adept at reading and interpreting technical documentation and procedures
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
