The Yard Inspector is responsible for inspecting and grading all received ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials, verifying material quality and ensuring deductions are made for non-conforming or zero value materials.

When:

Monday to Friday: 7:00am to 4:00pm or 10:00am to 7:00pm, Weekends as required.

What we Expect:

Thoroughly inspects received loads and executes deductions for nonconforming materials in accordance with operational policies and procedures in order to verify that material conforms to established quality specifications and nonpayment for items of zero value.
Issues yard tickets noting customer, carrier, and material type.
Reports to Supervisor all incidents of noncompliance with location specific policies and procedures
Directs incoming traffic into the yard advising drivers when and where to offload shipment's and allowing for appropriate traffic flow.
Performs yard maintenance duties ensuring roadways are clear and free of obstructions allowing truck traffic to flow through the yard in an efficient and effective manner.
Performs Non-Ferrous recoveries (when assigned) in accordance with applicable procedures and supervisory direction Picks Non-Ferrous metals from Ferrous piles upgrading material where possible.

You have:

Experience in a similar role/environment is preferred but not required.
Experience operating forklift and skid steer equipment is preferred but not required.
Previous outdoor working experience is required.
