Reporting to:

Position Summary:
The Supervisor of the Newcomer Settlement Program will lead a team of three to support the overall transition, resilience and integration of newcomer seniors, adults, youth, and their families in the Toronto region; operating within a
Sustainable Livelihoods Framework:
The framework focuses on understanding the context that creates and perpetuates a client's vulnerability to poverty, to support more active, strategic interventions and builds on a client's assets from providing access to basic necessities to social networks to individual skill and knowledge to self-confidence, self-esteem, and personal resilience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administration
- Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure New Circles in delivering relevant and efficient services which address the needs of the newcomer community in Toronto
- Develop, implement, and evaluate shortterm and longterm program plans to meet community needs and achieve funder targets
- In particular to create and manage a "client intake" team of two that interviews incoming Agency clients for needs beyond clothing and other basic necessities
- Facilitate Agencywide discussions with all staff to assess evolving client needs and make recommendations to address new service gaps
- Conduct program evaluations as required by the Newcomer Settlement Program funder contract and New Circles dashboard reporting
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely statistical and program reports as required by the New Circles Board
- Work with other Program Coordinators to ensure collaborative program delivery
- Develop and maintain service delivery partnerships with other community service providers in support of program activities
Case Management
- Support newcomers in onetoone intake/counselling sessions and support them in developing settlement plans
- Direct families to appropriate resources for additional family case management (where issues presenting reflect family reunification, family breakdown, dysfunctional parentchild relationships, genderbased violence, etc.)
- Work with team to connect newcomers in the community to additional services, educational opportunities, refer to the Employment Team and other resources
- Ensure collection and confidentiality of service data and ensure the reporting of all relevant data into the internal database (SUMAC) on a regular basis
- Monitor the program budget and prepare financial reports for the Finance Manager and Executive Director
- Ensure case management reaches participation targets and the NSP funding agreement
- Collaborate with other Agency staff regarding intake and referrals
- Deliver and coordinate educational workshops for groups
Outreach
- Develop, link and network with community agencies and other institutions/stakeholders
- Participate in any relevant newcomerrelated committees and networks
- Ensure that appropriate marketing materials are developed for the NSP
- Review all resources listings and guides to ensure accuracy and quality
- Ensure alignment with the Agency's broader outreach strategy
- Conduct and host presentations regarding newcomer and settlement services when required
- Represent the program at service networks, community meetings and conferences
- Participate in education to ensure current knowledge

Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in a related field such as Human Services, Social Service Worker, or equivalent. A degree in Social Work such as a BSW would be an asset
- 25 years of related work experience with newcomers and refugees
- Knowledge of local systems, services, and resources relevant to newcomer settlement and employment
- Knowledge of settlement and employment issues and barriers experienced by newcomers
- Demonstrated skills in planning, organization, and time management
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated interpersonal and crosscultural communication skills required to work with clients, team members and the public
- Solid experience managing budgets including maintainin
