Position Description:


Advanced Practice Clinical Lead

Division of Adolescent Medicine - Eating Disorders Program


The Hospital for Sick Children is a leading tertiary pediatric centre providing medical and mental health care to the most complex children and youth and their families.

The Eating Disorders Program (EDP) at SickKids is undertaking an ambitious renovation of its services with the goal of providing highly integrated medical stabilization and mental health assessment and treatment services to patients and families.

This re-design of services will transform inpatient, day treatment and outpatient care to a fully integrated and collaborative model between the Division of Adolescent Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry.

Treatment will focus on the delivery of high-quality evidence-based models that ensure care optimizes patients' recovery while supporting their parents and caregivers.


Position Description


An integral part of growing the mental health team and services at SickKids involves establishing appropriate clinical and operational leadership.

The Advanced Practice Clinical (APC) Leader is an important part of the leadership team who will support point-of-care staff in the implementation and evaluation of best practices in the assessment, treatment, and recovery of patients with eating disorders.


In this role, the APC Leader will:

  • act as role model for clinical practice in complex care situations
- engage in direct care activities for complex and high-risk patients.
- support interprofessional collaborative care, academic and research opportunities
- promote the implementation and audit of documentation standards
- participate in or facilitate quality improvement projects and quality reviews focusing on patient safety

  • Along with operational and other professional practice leaders, participate in program planning and evaluation
- support integrated care pathways to enhance patient outcomes
- play an active role on internal and external committees
- serve as a clinical leader resource in program-level and organizational level strategic planning activities for both inpatient and outpatient services
- support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.


_ Here's What You'll Need_

  • For psychologists,¿completion of a CPA/APA approved Ph.
D.

degree program in Clinical or Health Psychology is required with a pediatric/developmental focus as well as registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario for autonomous practice.


  • For social workers,a Ph D or Master's in Social Work, with registration or eligibility for registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • Applicants must demonstrate an understanding of the complex developmental, mental health and physical health needs of adolescent patients with eating disorders, and must have experience with treatment modalities, including FBT, DBT and EFFT.
  • Additional qualifications in psychiatric/mental health, or other relevant certification is an asset.
  • Committed to enhancing academic and research endeavors.
  • Experience in leading change; and the ability to provide advanced clinical care in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Previous advanced practice/administrative/academic scholarship is an asset.
