Reporting to the Director Equipment Finance Vendor Programs, the
Business Development Manager (BDM) is a highly proactive sales role that is responsible for actively seeking out net new opportunities and developing existing relationships within equipment vendors, brokers and dealerships located throughout Alberta.


The emphasis will be on equipment vendors, brokers and dealerships within the commercial, industrial and agriculture sectors located in the assigned territory.

You will create a strong network of contacts from which a variety of new business can be potentially gleaned directly or through a series of referrals.

You will be expected to travel throughout the province establishing and enhancing relationships with vendors, brokers and dealerships. These relationships will in some cases be a joint effort with local team members.


You will be a strategic and operational thinker with a desire to deliver a successful strategy and implementation with our vendors, dealerships and customers.

Setting a clear direction by translating corporate strategy into a successful business plan with the leaders you support.


Responsibilities:


  • Seek out and create net new vendor, dealership and broker relationships and foster existing relationships with approved vendors and dealerships.
  • Foster and retain relationships while leveraging referral opportunities in conjunction with Business teammates with the primary focus on securing net new and maintaining and enhancing existing relationships.
  • Proactively sell and promote lending services, in particular, the Equipment Finance Lease and Loan product, to potential customers by calling upon ATB's various vendor/broker/dealer partners for involvement in opportunities that will grow ATB's market share, specifically within the equipment financing sector.
  • Generate a flow of referral activity to be adjudicated by the underwriting team mates in both the commercial, industrial and agriculture equipment sectors, develop exceptional relationships and help the team achieve solid business results.
  • Conduct industry analysis, competitive benchmarking, initiate and facilitate project execution and launching of new business to address market gaps and gain traction with customers to increase revenue and improve Customer Advocacy Index (CAI) results.
  • Assist with portfolio maintenance when required.

Requirements:


Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Post secondary education in business or related equivalent experience
years business development experience in the finance or banking sector

  • Proven ability to network with business, agriculture, personal and professional contacts
  • Proven ability to generate new business and meet growth targets, with a specific interest in the construction, forestry and oil and gas sectors
  • Proven ability to see the big picture, related strategy and then breakdown that vision into actionable details
  • Proven analytical skills in order to assess results against objectives and validate that you're making a difference
  • Ability to identify insights and drive business strategy
