CADTH is Canada's drug and health technology agency. We're a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Ottawa, with a satellite office in Toronto.

We're funded by Canada's federal, provincial, and territorial governments, with the exception of Quebec, to provide independent information and advice to the country's publicly funded health care systems.

Health administrators and policy experts rely on CADTH to inform their decisions about the funding and appropriate use of the drugs, devices, and services used to prevent, diagnose, and treat medical conditions.

Primary Focus

The Finance Clerk is accountable for processing and maintaining accurate accounts payable and staff expenses, ensuring all related financial policies are followed.

They are responsible for accurate and timely transaction entry and reconciliation to provide complete financial records to management.


On any given day, the Finance Clerk will:

  • record, match, and process company expenses, including employee expense claims and accounts payable invoices as they are received
- ensure appropriate supporting documentation and approvals are received and all financial codes are verified to ensure an accurate entry into the financial system
- process weekly payment run (electronic fund transfers [EFTs], bill payments, wire transfers) and prepare all supporting documentation
- administer the Corporate Credit Card program, including coordinating the issuance of new cards, payment of card balances monthly, ongoing monitoring of charges against all cards, cancellation of cards as required, and reconciling travel credit cards for the organization monthly
- document, update, and provide interpretation of internal financial policies and procedures for the organization, as required
- keep accurate and up-to-date files by ensuring necessary documents are e-filed in accordance with internal guidelines
- participate in special projects from time to time that have an impact on the financial system or financial processes within the organization
- continuously improve processes and policies through the identification of inefficiencies and suggested enhancements
- provide short-term coverage for team members for periods of leave.

Is this the right role for you?


The Finance Clerk will likely have:

  • completed postsecondary education in a relevant area such as Business Administration or Commerce and no less than 2 years working in a similar role; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
- working knowledge of principles and practices related to accounts payable and employee expense claims
- experience engaging and collaborating with internal partners and external vendors
- excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
- experience working collaboratively, prioritizing, and balancing multiple competing tasks effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- a respectful, approachable, and team-oriented manner while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
- strong knowledge of and experience with Microsoft 365, including Excel and Outlook.
