    Nutrien is recruiting for an Associate to join the Valuation and Financial Structuring team based in Calgary, AB.

    You will play a pivotal role in analyzing, evaluating, and executing mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital investments and other strategic initiatives. You will collaborate with senior team members and cross-functional teams to perform financial modeling, develop valuations, and assist in structuring transactions to support Nutrien's growth and expansion initiatives.

    Reporting to the Manager, Valuation and Financial Structuring, you will work within a high-performing, collaborative Corporate Development group with a strong track record of transaction execution. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on highly strategic and impactful projects across various sectors (mainly chemicals manufacturing, mining, and agricultural retailing).

    What you will do:

    • Perform complex and detailed financial modeling and analysis, including valuation modeling, to support potential M&A activities, joint ventures, capital investments and other strategic initiatives
      • Collect, analyze and synthesize market and industry data
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to obtain and validate modeling assumptions
      • Analyze financial statements and financial information
      • Develop, update, and maintain financial models
      • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Nutrien's business units to effectively support strategic investment objectives
    • Communicate effectively
      • Prepare presentations for senior executives and the Board of Directors
      • Present critical-thinking-driven insights and data clearly and concisely
      • Communicate with tact and diplomacy
      • Facilitate effective communication between Nutrien business units and corporate decision makers to promote collaboration and information flow
    • Work effectively within a small, highly accountable team
      • Display a flexible "can do" attitude and willingness to help where needed
      • Manage deadlines on multiple projects of varying complexity
      • Be enthusiastic, inquisitive and have a deep desire to learn
      • Take a proactive approach to the tasks at hand and respond quickly to the needs of the group and Nutrien's business units
    • Support other areas of transaction implementation including research, opportunity evaluation, due diligence, and documentation

    What you will bring:

    • University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or related fields. Enrollment in or completion of a financial designation (i.e., CFA, CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) is desirable, but not mandatory
    • 3+ years of experience in corporate development, corporate finance, consulting, investment banking, private equity, or a related analytical role
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts effectively
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and financial and valuation modeling experience
    • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Experience with financial databases (i.e., Capital IQ, FactSet, Bloomberg, etc.) is considered an asset
