JOB SUMMARY:


As a valued member of the team, the Dishwasher demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with organization's vision and mission.

Reporting to the Chef, the Dishwasher is accountable for ware-washing, pot washing and sanitation of the department.

The Dishwasher is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the core values, ensure resident safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Cleans dishes, pots, glassware, and cutlery following established sanitation procedures;
  • Monitors and records the temperature of the dish machine at least twice daily. Reports all deficiencies to the Chef;
  • Ensures correct usage of chemicals in dish machine and potwashing areas, i.e. uses 3sink method for pot washing;
  • Receives, uncrates, and puts away supplier deliveries as required;
  • Breaks down cardboard boxes and prepares boxes for recycling or disposal;
  • Cleans dish machine and pot washing area thoroughly. Assumes cleaning tasks as per site cleaning schedules;
  • Cleans kitchen, including mopping entire floor;
  • Alerts Chef to problems and makes recommendations about corrective action;
  • Participates actively in department's Quality Management program and any department/facility committees as requested;
  • Attends department and facility team member meetings, inservices and other required training sessions;
  • Adheres to established department policies, procedures and objectives regarding quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control;
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by Chef or Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Advises supervisor or designate immediately of all team member incidents that may result in an Occupational Accident Claim, any concerns with the physical plant, incidents or injuries and completes required reports;
  • Follows all health and safety policies and procedures. Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, coworkers, and residents;
  • Wears personal protective equipment as designated;
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment for residents utilizing infection control principles;
  • Maintains a sound working knowledge of their role & responsibilities during all Emergency situations when working different shifts;
  • Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness;
  • Work in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team;
  • Safe Food Handling Certification
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
