    Location: Montreal, QC or Toronto, ON (on-site)

    Role summary:

    We are looking for a Translator to join our Marketing team to support Canoe Financial's bilingual brand presence and communications across Canada. You will be responsible for the translation, editing, proofreading, and coordination of French-language content across Canoe's marketing and corporate communications. This role is directly accountable for ensuring that all French materials are accurate, compliant, culturally appropriate, and fully aligned with approved English content.

    You will translate and adapt a wide range of materials, including retail and institutional sales support, marketing collateral, advertising campaigns, press releases, web content, and internal communications—while preserving Canoe's brand voice and the integrity of its messaging. The ideal candidate can confidently gather context from English source materials and deliver clear, precise, and polished Canadian French translations.

    Key responsibilities

    • Translate, edit, and proofread financial, technical, and marketing content from English to French, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with industry regulations.
    • Ensure all French communications are a high-quality reflection of approved English materials.
    • Adapt content to reflect the nuances of the financial industry and the needs of French-speaking Canada.
    • Fix spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax issues to ensure linguistic and technical correctness.
    • Adjust translations to match Canoe's style guide, tone, and brand voice, ensuring consistency across all materials.
    • Maintain consistency in terminology, verb tense, formatting, and overall language usage.
    • Collaborate closely with the broader marketing team and internal stakeholders to meet quality, compliance, and delivery standards.
    • Assist with formatting and layout of marketing collateral to support bilingual marketing production needs.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 3 years of professional translation experience, preferably within financial services, asset management, or a related regulated industry.
    • Fully bilingual in English and French, with expert-level written French.
    • Bachelor's degree in Translation from a recognized institution, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Strong copy-editing and proofreading skills.
    • Ability to understand English source context and deliver nuanced, accurate French translations.
    • Familiarity with financial terminology and marketing communications.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
    • Previous experience in marketing production (InDesign, web management, social media and presentations) is an asset.
