- Lead and produce detailed civil engineering designs and drawings for municipal infrastructure, land development, transportation, and site servicing projects.
- Prepare design models, grading plans, alignments, profiles, and construction details using Civil 3D.
- Support project managers with design coordination, scheduling, cost estimates, and quality control.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, constructible design solutions.
- Conduct site reviews, field checks, and assist with construction support as required.
- Mentor junior designers and technologists, providing guidance on design standards and best practices.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project expectations are met.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, design scopes, and project planning activities.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in civil engineering design, preferably in a consulting environment.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with municipal design standards.
- Experience designing municipal infrastructure such as roads, water, sanitary, and storm systems.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
- Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with clients and project partners.
- Experience mentoring junior staff is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.

The salary range for this position is $82,000 - $122,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual's education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
