Position Summary


The position presents an excellent opportunity to work in a fast paced environment using state of the art technology to perform echocardiograms on a uniquely complex patient population.


Duties

  • Perform ultrasound imaging procedures, as outlined in the procedure manuals to aid in patient diagnosis and/or treatment
  • Operating, troubleshooting and ensuring ultrasound, echocardiology/ancillary equipment and instruments are performing in an efficient and effective manner
  • Preparing written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results
  • Performing other related patient handling responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care
  • Participating in teaching, educational, research, safety and quality improvement programs/activities
  • Observing and understanding Hospital and departmental policies and procedures; adhering to Hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Performing crossfunctional responsibilities, as assigned or requested
  • Performing other duties related to the job classification, as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized post diploma Cardiovascular Principles and Instrumentation (C.P.I.) program
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.), Level II Basic Rescuer Certification
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent cardiac ultrasound experience
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Excellent hand eye coordination
  • Ability to function effectively in stressful situations
  • Computer literacy required
  • Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Registration with Sonography Canada or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
