What Would You Do?


The Server Administrator will be responsible for a full range of activities that will ensure the proper design, implementation, operation, maintenance and security of on-premises and cloud-based server systems and related services.

Primary duties and responsibilities of this position are outlined below:

  • Install, rebuild and configure, administer and maintain new and existing hardware and software, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Build, rebuild and configure, administer and maintain Cloudbased Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) architectures including AWS, Azure, Azure AD, and M36
  • Perform daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of all onpremises and cloudbased hardware, server resources and systems
  • Evaluate, advise, implement, administer and maintain cybersecurity systems, services, processes and procedures
  • Ensure data backup, retention and disaster recovery services are operational and current
  • Ensure cloud systems, system hardware, operating systems, software components and related procedures adhere to organizational and industrial standards
  • Participate in cloud, hardware and software design and implementation projects with opportunity for collaboration with internal departments as well as external organizations, customers and vendors
  • Engage in technical research and professional development to enable continuing innovation
  • Participate in oncall responsibilities to resolve emergency issues promptly as well as scheduled maintenance outside of work hours
  • Other duties, opportunities and projects as assigned

What Do You Bring?

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in an Enterprise virtualized server environment and performing maintenance of server infrastructure (software patches, hardware components)
  • Knowledge and firsthand experience with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Azure and multiplatform networks (Windows Server , Linux, MacOS) is required
  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft 365 services, Microsoft Exchange Server in a hybrid deployment, ADFS, Active Directory and supporting services (DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, etc.) is required
  • Experience with Enterpriseclass storage (SAN, NAS) utilizing Fiber Channel, iSCSI, DAS and NFS along with a broad understanding of network concepts (LAN, WAN) is required
  • Required experience with web server administration (IIS, Apache, NGINX) as well as proficiency with SaaS and cloudbased technologies
  • Required knowledge and experience surrounding backup and disaster recovery technologies using products such as Veeam, Arcserve, and Unitrends
  • Required knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL server (build, migrate, administer)
  • Required knowledge and experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including Amazon EC2, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), AWS Identity and Access Management, and Amazon API Gateway
  • Proficiency in the following areas is not required but would be considered an asset: AS400 (IBM iSeries), SharePoint, and scripting languages (PowerShell, shell scripting)
  • Develop, update and maintain existing system scripts and configurations
