    Located on the western side of spectacular coastal British Columbia, Howe Sound Pulp and Paper is one of the oldest operating mills in the province.     Howe Sound is one of 8 facilities owned by Paper Excellence, a diversified manufacturer of pulp and paper that produces over 3 million tonnes of printing, writing, packaging, and specialty papers annually with a workforce of more than 3,000 strong.

    Overview:

    We are looking for a full-time Project Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer is accountable for the successful completion of capital expenditure projects; on scope, on budget, and on schedule.     Position Summary & Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of project management for capital expenditure projects and miscellaneous maintenance projects (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing).
  • Development of project cost estimates to the appropriate level of detail required at each planning phase.
  • Construction scope development and preparation of tender packages.
  • Contract and construction management.
  • Engineering related to the candidate's field of expertise (P.Eng seal).
  • Inspection of Mill assets related to the candidate's field of expertise (P.Eng seal).
  • Owner's review of 3rd party documents related to the candidate's field of expertise.
  • Acting as Owner's Representative during Mill shutdowns.
  • Assisting Maintenance Engineers as needed.
  • Qualifications:

  • EGBC registered Professional Engineer preferred but will consider individuals with EGBC registered Limited Licence.
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Experience with Alan Bradley PLC 3, PLC 5, ControlLogix, and HMI.
  • Experience with ABB 450 and 800M DCS.
  • Experience with power systems maintenance.
  • Experience integrating new installations into brown field power distribution systems, control systems, and operational interfaces.
  • Experience managing industrial construction projects with budgets between $1M and $10M from start to finish.
  • Experience with Earned Value Reporting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and cooperation skills in both dynamic team environments and with vendors.
  • PMP designation is considered an asset.
