    As a member of the Human ResourcesConsulting team, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic guidanceand support across the Institute. Your expertise will be instrumental inensuring the effective management of human resources in alignment with NAITpolicies, procedures, and values. As part of our HR team, you'll have theopportunity to work closely with colleagues from various departments within HR,including Recruitment, Ability Management, Payroll & Benefits, HROperations, and Organizational Development Services. You will also work withvarious clients across NAIT to support them in achieving their objectives andkey results. Together, we'll leverage our collective expertise to drivepositive change, foster a culture of excellence, and empower our employees toreach their full potential and support NAIT in delivering on it's Promises toLearners, Industry, Staff and Alberta (and beyond).

    KeyResponsibilities:

  • Provides knowledgeable and timely assessment,recommendation and advice on employee and labour relations issues
  • Analyzes and communicates implications of options,including risks, opportunities, and impacts, to support leadership in decision-making.
  • Advises leaders and employees on the interpretation ofHR policies and collective agreements
  • Act as a business partner tosupport management using the full range of HR functional expertise andknowledge to identify opportunities and challenges in the development ofoperational strategies related to restructuring, budget changes, and manpowerplanning
  • Reviews and assesses classification and job evaluationsubmissions, conducts job audits, and presents recommended classification
  • Supports leaders and employees in the absence andability management process, including facilitating the duty to accommodateprocess
  • Guides leaders through the performance managementprocess, advising on recommended actions and escalation of next steps whererequired
  • Facilitatesand participates in the development of training for internal clients on topicsrelated to employee and labour relations, performance management, and any otherapplicable area of responsibility
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships withinternal and external groups to influence results that are beneficial to NAITstakeholders, such as AUPE and NASA (NAIT Academic Staff Association)
  • Develops policy recommendations based on research,industry best practices, and stakeholder feedback
  • Conducts thorough investigations into employeemisconduct, ensuring fairness and adherence to organizational policies andlegal requirements
  • Participates in a variety of cross-functional projectsand internal committees which may have institute-wide impact
  • Skills& Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills (both written andverbal) that are adaptable to meet the unique needs of different audiences
  • Ability to make sense of complex and sometimescontradictory information to effectively solve problems

  • Strong skills in persuading and influencing to achieveappropriate outcomes
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, policies,and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of labour relations principles andcollective agreement interpretation
  • Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Human Resources Management or related fieldis required. A Degree in Human Resource Management or related field inpreferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a relatedfield.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment ispreferred.
  • Remuneration : $79,795.82– $105,715.48 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification– Human Resources Consultant
