    Description

    The Buyer is responsible for the Order Management of Goods & Services. Working closely with business requestors, contract specialists and suppliers, they have ownership for purchase order setup, documentation, and approval, expediting of goods and invoice resolution.

    Your responsibilities:

    • Understand business requirements and effectively manage the procure to pay process by daily review of requisitions for procurement of goods and/or services.
    • Negotiate with qualified suppliers to ensure the best value for the company. Negotiate payment terms, purchase order terms and conditions (
    • Issue purchase orders and gain appropriate approval.
    • Follow through with supplier/contractors to ensure purchase order commitments are acknowledged.
    • Expedite deliveries of materials as per required at site dates.
    • Resolve any invoice holds/errors to ensure payment to suppliers.
    • Manage timely closure of Purchase Orders (POs) to mitigate risk.

    Your skills

    • Ability to work alone or within a team. Must be able to work with other Teams within the Irving Oil organization.
    • Effective oral/written communication skills are essential along with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
    • Effective time management and planning is critical for this position.
    • Work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
    • Collaborative, strong prioritization and organization skills.

    Your experience

    • University Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration/Commerce. New graduates are encouraged to apply
    • Experience with Procure to Pay procedures, sourcing, and negotiation.
    • Familiar with basic principles of Contract Management.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications.
    • Experience with various ERP and MRPs.
    • Experience with Oracle EBS and SAGE is asset.
