    Description

    The Accounting Assistant supports the Finance team byprocessing full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. This rolerequires multi-tasking, meeting tight deadlines, and collaborating with othermembers of the finance team and with staff from other departments.

    The Key Areas of Responsibility are:

  • Performsfull-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, includingsubledger reconciliations;
  • Disburses,replenishes, and reconciles Translink bus tickets;
  • Performscollection on delinquent accounts;
  • Processesand files routine journal entries;
  • Preparesreports such as statistical summaries and transaction tracking and any otherreports requested by the manager;
  • Assists inthe completion of the of month end, budget, audit and various annual reviewsand all related tasks;
  • Providesinput and feedback to support the continuous improvement of financial process,systems, and internal controls;
  • Performsother related duties as assigned.
  • Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Completionof Level 2 of a diploma in financial or accounting program;
  • Minimum 3years of proven, progressive accounting experience;
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office including Excel and Word;
  • Knowledgeand experience with Sage Accpac ERP software;
  • Demonstratedaccuracy and attention to detail;
  • Ability tomaintain confidential information;
  • Demonstratedorganizational skills and ability to multi-task;
  • Ability towork independently and meet deadlines;
  • Basicworking knowledge of GAAP;
  • Ability toexercise good accounting judgment and take appropriate action where necessary;
  • Verbal andwritten English proficiency at a professional level.
