POSITION TITLE:
Nutrition Supervisor





REPORTING TO:
The Director of Food Services

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Nutrition Supervisor is the critical linkage between clinical nutrition and foodservice.

Working in collaboration with the Registered Dietitian, they provide resident focused nutritional care for residents with a varying degree of nutritional needs.

Reporting to the Food Service Director, the Nutritional Supervisor communicates and addresses department issues, to ensure quality care for the residents, and create a safe working environment for staff.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Diploma as a Dietetic Technician or Certification in Food and Nutrition Management
  • Current member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM)
  • Previous supervisory experience in food services, optimally in Long Term Care operations
  • Welldeveloped English language skills, comprehension, oral and written
  • Strong communication skills demonstrated between departmental staff, nursing personnel, families, and residents.

FUNCTIONS:


  • Direct dietary care of residents with a varying degree of nutrition needs including screening, assessment and care planning to ensure patient dietary needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
  • Educates staff and counsel's patients/residents and their families on proper nutritional care
  • Manages and promotes food and nutrition programs according to The Glebe Centre's standards and policy.
  • Collaborate and communicate with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, nutrition care, therapeutic diets and menu requests.
  • Stay current with most recent nutritionrelated trends, research, policy, certifications and standards of practice
  • Support the Registered Dietitian in the provision of nutritional care for residents with a varying degree of nutritional issues
  • Participate in the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of client care plans
  • Assist the RD in providing education or counselling to residents regarding dietary modifications or restrictions
  • Thorough documentation and follow up with regards to nutritional care planning and resident centred nutrition interventions
  • Probe potential problems and apprise manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate resources when necessary.
  • Supervise and motivate dietary staff; ensure dietary staff work as a team in order to provide a high level of productivity
  • Ensure environment of all food preparation and storage areas meets Public Health requirements
  • Conduct monthly food safety audits and implement corrective actions
  • Produce and manage staffing schedule and payroll
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship among home area teams by communicating information, respond to requests, building rapport and participating in team meetings and problemsolving methods.
  • Maintain knowledge by attending educational and participating in inhouse inservices including Surge Learning and mandatory training.
  • Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in The Glebe Centre's ethical and Professional Codes of Conduct.
  • Assisting the Director and covering the department including other jobrelated duties as required
