JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Superintendent of Business Services, the Plant Services Manager is responsible for the leadership, organization, administration and supervision of the Plant Services Department in accordance with the terms of the Board Policies and procedures and relevant Acts and Regulations of the Province.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the operations, maintenance, custodial, construction and security functions for all Board facilities
Responsible for the planning, coordination and management of various capital projects/programs within multi-million-dollar budgets, in alignment with the Board's strategic directions and priorities.
Assist management and senior administration with setting direction, identifying, and analyzing the Boards needs and assist in arriving at solutions and/or making recommendations.
Ensure the Board is compliant with all legislation including regulatory bodies ensuring the highest level of service and safety standards are consistently applied.
Ensure ongoing communications with all levels of the board including trustees, administrators and senior staff, school communities, municipalities, and public sector partners.
Oversee the operation of the school board's health and safety programs in accordance with recognized best practices, established legislation, and applicable collective agreements.
Oversee the effective delivery of maintenance services to all facilities using a work-order system, assessing performance, and ensuring expedient customer service.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
University degree, ideally in engineering or architecture or related discipline
5 years of recent related public sector supervisory experience preferably within an academic environment
Demonstrated success in a role managing and supervising staff in a unionized environment.
Demonstrated success in a role managing and supervising a large budget.
Demonstrated success in a role working collaboratively with staff, supervisors, vendors, colleagues, and service providers.
Experience in operation and maintenance of building automation, security, mechanical, electrical and water management systems with knowledge of architectural systems.
