Description
The Kitchen Supervisor is experienced in food preparation and assists in creating budget respectful and nutrient balanced menu options. Duties involve supervising the Ark's kitchen and staff and volunteer operations and cooks meals defined by the Head Chef.

The Kitchen Supervisor has the following responsibilities and duties:

  • Adhere to Ark Aid Mission policies & procedures and code of conduct
  • Assist the Head Chef in ongoing development of policies & procedures
  • Supervise kitchen staff in all kitchen operations
  • Communicate with community members and staff to help with any needs
  • Keep facility clean and safe
  • Receive and sort food donations
  • Assist Volunteers in Food Preparation
  • Assist in handle any emergency situations that may arise
  • Assist in Proper storing, sorting, and logging foods rotating stock
  • Food prep and organization
  • Assist in sourcing new donors for food donations
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and safe at all times
  • Ensure all Safe Food Handling procedures and Health and Safety policies are being followed
  • Assist with welcoming and hospitality and other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Chef should have the following skills, education and experience:

  • One year minimum experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • Strong understanding of food preparation
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Critical, problem solving and forward thinking
  • Safe food handling certification
  • Valid G license is required
  • Ability to work with and support kitchen volunteers
  • Ability to be on their feet for long periods of time
  • Willing to take on other duties as needed

Salary:
$17.00-$24.00 per hour

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Handler Certification (required)
