Communications Specialist

Communications and Education

Are you ready for the next step in your career? And interested in being part of a dynamic team of communicators who provide a wide variety of communications services to the Commission? The Communication and Education Division
of the British Columbia Securities Commission is hiring a Communications Specialist.

Key responsibilities will include:

Writing and editing investor education content for web, social media, and external communications
Leading administration of the BCSC's social media channels including daily monitoring, and working with the IE&E team on engagement, risk management, social content planning and posting
Identifying online trends and planning social media campaigns to build online connections, strengthen online presence, and increase awareness of the BCSC
Participating in the development of digital campaigns and website improvements to support the BCSC's investor education initiatives and outreach programs
Providing quality assurance support for website and digital initiatives
Working with stakeholders and outreach partners on events, meetings, seminars and other related activities
Taking and coordinating staff photography, and assisting with inhouse or vendorproduced videos
Publishing WordPress content to , and providing support for the BCSC's intranet and corporate website when required.

Qualifications

A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Online Education or a related discipline
Three to five (35) years of recent, related experience
Strong writing, editing, and proofing skills, including writing for websites, blogs, and newsletters
Experience with video production and photography for social media and for corporate settings
MS Office skills including spreadsheet development and management, and database management
Experience producing Google Analytics (GA) reports and analyzing GA data

Other assets

Familiarity with social media, content strategy, digital marketing, and social ads
Financial services industry experience or knowledge of Canadian Securities considered an asset
