Position Compensation - $24.95 per hour to start plus H&D and other benefits


Job Location: 55 Gould Street. Toronto Metropolitan University Student Centre. Downtown Toronto

Full-Time, Permanent, Summers off

  • The opportunity to work directly with the Restaurant Managers, Chef, Conference Services, Events and Marketing Coordinator, department leads and all staff of the TMU-SC

The Skills You Need (or Are Willing to Develop) to Be Successful in the Position:

  • Ensures daily operations of the Pub are functioning according to our policies and procedures of the TMU-SC
  • Creates an environment that is positive, inclusive, respectful, and welcoming to all members of our team and all guests of the building
  • Assist management with the training and supervision of all staff according to our established policies and procedures
  • Upholds the values, vision, and mission of the TMU-SC
  • Assist management with inventory control
  • Ability to think on your feet and take accountability for your actions
  • Strong knowledge of beer, spirits, and wine as well as Bar Service (Pub Lead)
  • Strong knowledge of speciality coffee and Barista Service (Café lead)
  • Ability to take direction and execute efficiently
  • Coachable and able to receive constructive feedback
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills

What You Will Do:

Help us deliver the best possible experience for our staff and guests alike

  • Assist the restaurant managers in executing a new bar program for the Pubs reopen in the Fall
  • Assist in the training and developing of all fresh staff of the Café and Pub and continue that training for any new hires
  • Manager the daytoday operations of the Pub/Café
  • Leads will be responsible for opening and closing of both the Café and the Pub, overseeing opening, and closing of each respective location and always maintaining a clean and organized environment

Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience in a senior position within a restaurant, head waiter, head bartender, shift lead, junior management position or equivalent education with life experience

  • Bartending/hospitality management programs an asset
  • Smart Serve Certified
  • Knowledge of inventory control
  • Knowledge of food handling, proper storage, and rotation of all products
