The
School of Rehabilitation Science is running a pilot randomized controlled trial of non-invasive brain stimulation and yoga to be delivered for those living with painful knee osteoarthritis (OA).
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced
Therapeutic Yoga Instructor to deliver the yoga-based intervention. Classes will be taught in-person, on campus or nearby twice weekly in 8-week intervals.
Accountabilities:
- Instruct yoga classes as set out in the study protocol
- Perform demonstrations of all activities.
- Assess and evaluate pain levels of participants.
- Provide guidance and instruction to participants and recommend modified exercises.
- Document any adverse responses and any changes from the protocol.
- Complete all complete set up and take down of the equipment.
- Document participant attendance.
Qualifications:

Education: Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 500) with Yoga Alliance. Completed 500 hour teacher training.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years relevant experience teaching therapeutic yoga classes.
Assets:
- Knowledge of the lived experience of osteoarthritis acquired through working with this population.
- Skill in guiding groups in selfcare techniques including awareness, selfregulation and discernment practices.
- Ability to teach yoga without the use of Sanskrit terms, without nocebic language, and following a specific class plan created by the project team.
- Ability to provide instructions with compassion and optimism and to guide modifications during a class with 1011 people.
Additional Information:
- Completion of the Pain Care Aware certificate
- Available for practicum training: April
