Team Lead, Commerical Insurance


The
Team Lead, Commercial Insurance is responsible for coordinating and guiding a team of commercial insurance brokers, service team members, and administrative team members.

You are dedicated to ensuring your team meets and exceeds goals and targets by acting as a motivator, supervisor, and mentor on a daily basis.

This role is a hands-on position to proactively ensure smooth team operations, engagement and effective collaboration.


Job Duties include but not limited to:

  • Provides guidance and feedback regarding performance as well as facilitating continuous learning and development of the Commercial Insurance team
  • Responsible for managing a book of business including but not limited to:
  • Compiling renewal information, negotiating renewal terms and preparing all other aspects of renewals
  • Comparing quote options for multiple carriers and presents coverage comparison as needed
  • Ensuring renewals are completed 60 days in advance
  • Reviewing policies to identify coverage gaps, makes recommendations based on clients' operations, exposures and need
  • Maintaining appropriate and clear documentation in agency management systems including policy details, activities and attachments, spreadsheets
  • Assisting in negotiating renewal terms & developing growth
  • Clearly understanding how their actions can positively or negatively affect relationship with our customers, carriers and coworkers
  • Participating in ongoing scheduled meetings with team to discuss accounts, renewals and day to day service needs and opportunities
  • Monitors team performance, facilitate conflict discussions, and leads monthly team meetings
  • Participates in the recruiting and hiring of new employees and oversees the training program and onboarding of new employees
  • Proactively develops solutions to meet client demands
  • Communicates corporate goals and sales targets
  • Promotes an inspiring team environment with an open communications culture
  • Communicates with company representatives on new products, training, sales targets and service standards
  • Evaluates and improves internal service workflows
  • Develops internal procedures to meet client care requirements
  • Supports and assists in the company marketing and sales strategies
  • Prepares regular reports for senior executive new sales, retention, production etc.
  • Provides assistance with various ongoing and adhoc business projects
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Location & Status

  • Ottawa, ON
  • Full Time, Permanent, minimum 4 days per week in office

Qualifications

  • 57 years of related experience in insurance industry with extensive Commercial Lines experience
  • Experience managing a team and demonstrated effective handling of employee issues and performance is considered an asset
  • Postsecondary education an asset
  • RIBO Insurance License
  • CAIB or CIP designation, or working towards is considered an asset
