    We are looking for a Solution Architect - Data & AI to join Microsoft professional services team in Canada, Industry Solutions Delivery (ISD), and lead AI transformation of our largest customers

    We are looking for a Data Platform & Advanced Analytics/Artificial Intelligence Solution Architect to lead high priority customer initiatives including architecture design sessions with senior customer executives, enterprise architects, IT management and developers and to deliver Data Platform and Advanced Analytics solutions to production, as well as act as a technical leader for the implementation of the solutions for the customers.

    Qualifications

    Required/Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years' experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Data and AI)
      • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain
      • OR equivalent experience.
    • 3+ years experience leading blended, multidisciplinary technology teams.

    Additional or Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years' experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain
      • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain
      • OR equivalent experience.
    • Technical or Professional Certification in Domain (e.g., Data & AI).
    • 5+ years of related experience designing and supporting solutions using technologies such as:
      • Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, HD Insights, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, CosmosDB, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Machine Learning Service , Artificial Intelligence including BOT framework, Cognitive Services, Cognitive Search.
    • Understanding of LLMs and Retrieval-Augmented Generation, or experience developing applications using them.
    • Active Canadian Government Secret Clearance or the ability to secure Secret Clearance with the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD) of Public Services and Procurement Canada.

    Solution Architecture IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $119,800 - CAD $217,200 per year.

    Responsibilities

    The Solution Architect is responsible for translating the client's business requirements into specific systems, applications, or process designs for very large complex technology solutions and architectures. You'll act as an advocate for the client as the ultimate authority on the architecture designed to address client business problems. You'll provide direction for design activities, often project-based, sometimes working at customer sites.

    As a Solution Architect you'll gather customer/partner insights from a broad range of stakeholders to shape and form both the definition and ongoing execution of projects. You'll define and document the architecture to communicate the value proposition of the business solution along with the project approach. Collaborating with the Project Manager you'll jointly drive project/technical governance of the design, build, and deployment into use. You'll work with the business sponsor and customer/partner stakeholders to gather and ratify requirements and constraints and collaborating with the Account Team and/or Bid Team to understand the business solution/problem. This role is flexible in that you can work up to 50% from home.

    Understanding Customer/Partner Technical Environment

    • Gathers customer/partner insights from a broad range of stakeholders as well as the main business sponsor to shape and form both the definition and ongoing execution of projects.
    • Works with customer/partner stakeholders and business sponsor to socialize both the business solution and the project approach to determine if changes are needed to the business solution.
    • Uses evidence-based approach to represent the customer/partner as a customer advocate and share insights with Product Engineering teams and the business with a view to improving Microsoft technologies, products, services and offerings such that they can better meet customer/partner needs across a territory.
    • Collaborates in the pre-sale process with internal stakeholders (e.g., Pursuit Lead, Consulting Account Executive) by providing technical guidance, translating business requirements, or identifying possible existing or new solution offerings to help shape the deal and influence budgetary estimates. Develops proposals or statement of work (SOW) and contributes to deal review meetings.
    • Provides input on staffing and skill requirements for delivery to Resource Deployment, Technical Delivery Managers (TDMs), and/or Project Managers.

    Architecture Design and Deployment

    • Defines and documents the Architecture through an architecture description document, an architecture decisions log, and a requirements/constraints traceability matrix to communicate the value proposition of the business solution along with the project approach.
    • Works with customers to understand and demonstrate business value (e.g., release of revenue, cost savings) that the business solution realizes.
    • Manages and resolves ambiguity in the requirements and constraints and documents assumptions and implications where it cannot be resolved.

    Practice Development

    • Generates new and/or improvements to existing intellectual property. Connects gaps and patterns across business and technology areas to drive changes. Identifies which ideas should be culled, with consideration for scale across customers.
    • Drives the re-use of intellectual property and recommends practices in both pre-sales and delivery. Participates and contributes to internal/external communities.

    Thought Leadership

    • Leads virtual teams around technologies and customer/partner challenges by sharing ideas, insight, and strategic, technical input with technical teams, internal communities across the field, and the larger virtual team across Microsoft using knowledge of Microsoft architectures and their context in the competitive landscape.
