Our training program extends over 2-3 years (depending on any prior experience) working with the 4 senior advisors to provide unbiased advice and individually tailored investment solutions.


Tradex is seeking to employ an advisor in training, on a full-time basis at its head office in downtown Ottawa.

They assist the Investment Advisors providing a consolidated face to the members with respect to financial advice to members, which includes understanding member needs, providing advice re investment and tax options and regularly follow-up with members as issues evolve.

Primary responsibility to deliver on Tradex Vision and Mission and to be available for members regardless of venue—in person, on phone or on-line.

This position will be of interest to individuals who:

  • have a university or community college degree and who have a keen interest in financial markets and working in the financial industry. (the incumbent must pass the mutual fund licensing course within 3 months of joining Tradex)

Major Activities:

  • Assist senior Investment Advisers in the performance of their duties
  • Deliver exemplary customer service in every member interaction to ensure enhance member satisfaction and to obtain referrals
  • Take buy/sell orders from clients for mutual funds and other related products and process trade tickets.
  • Conduct portfolio reviews and providing recommendations in conjunction with Investment Advisors
  • Assist in prospecting for new accounts, including preparing direct mail kits and following up on leads and referrals
  • Request information and documentation from clients to open an account or to update the data in their account as per the industry regulatory requirements
  • Answer client questions and inform clients of current developments in financial markets
  • Follow up on client trades with other mutual fund companies, trust companies, etc. to ensure proper settlement and delivery
  • Estate contact with beneficiary/executor as needed
  • Maintain daily records of trades, by client account and by investment
  • Contact clients when needed to discuss items that may be relevant to the account
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations and written communications with clients
  • Gather research and product information from internal and external sources
  • Contributing to market material development, delivering marketing presentations and staffing events and recruiting new members from such activities.
  • Assist in preparing client statements and other like documentation
  • In addition, the incumbent will participate in a wide range of administrative and other activities associated with the operation and management of a small, profitable, progressive company such as Tradex.

this is an entry-level position with excellent scope for advancement and career development.

As the incumbent gains knowledge and expertise while working side by side in the office with the Team, it is anticipated that he/she will take on increasing responsibilities in advising clients and contributing to the overall success of Tradex.

$52,250.00-$70,190.00 per year
