Summary


Reporting to and partnering with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Manager of Finance will oversee the financial activities and manage the financial operations of Harbour Landing Village (and its subsidiary Village Home Care), which includes cash flow management, budgeting, financial reporting, financial analysis, bank, and stakeholder relationships.

The Manager will be responsible for directing and managing the company's accounting functions and systems, including maintaining accounting principles, practices, controls, and procedures.

The Manager will supervise a team of 1-2 support staff members.

As a member of the leadership team, the Manager of Finance will provide support with the strategic direction of the company.

Job Duties

Accounting Leadership

  • Manage the daily operations of the accounting department including receivables, payables, and related functions.
  • Complete the monthend financial statements, along with any reports required by financial institutions, stakeholders, and the Board of Directors.
  • Complete ad hoc financial analysis as required to support management's decisionmaking processes.
  • Manage cash flow requirements and forecasting, which includes developing a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism.
  • Oversee, and establish organizational processes where required, including but not limited to financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems to maintain appropriate internal control safeguards across all business lines.
  • Optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards.
  • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide department leaders across Harbour Landing Village.
  • Manage the annual review engagement with external auditors and prepare and present financial information to the Board of Directors.

Planning & Budgeting
As a part of and in collaboration with the Harbour Landing Village Senior Leadership Team, the Manager of Finance will:

  • Actively participate and contribute to the evolution of the Harbour Landing Village strategic plan, mission and vision as well as financial priorities;
  • Implement short
- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures as required by the business;

  • Support planning initiatives through financial information, analyses, reports, as well as product pricing, costing and margins;
  • Manage the business's budget including establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, recommending plans, scheduling expenditures and analyzing variances;
  • Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual operating results; and,
  • Proactively work with the operations team to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency.

Overall Leadership

  • Provide input on decision making issues affecting the organization.
  • Build strong working relationships at all levels with both internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate proactivity and creativity for organizational initiatives, bring forward thoughts and ideas on doing things better.

Requirements:


  • University degree in Business/Accounting, and/or working towards professional accounting designation (such as CA, CPA, CGA, CMA, CMT) preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management.
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.
  • Experience overseeing review engagements or audits performed by external accounting firms.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
  • Management and or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good problemsolving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward the work at hand.
  • Ability to adapt to and learn new software.
