Your Opportunity:


Red Deer has an exciting opportunity for a Child and Youth Development Specialist on our Childrens' Rehabilitation Services team As our Child and Youth Development Specialist, you will provide in-home and virtual, family-centred support to families which have children with developmental delays and disabilities aged 0-5 years of age.

You will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team (including Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists and Physical Therapists) providing support to identify goals and assist the family in obtaining necessary supports for their child and family.

You may also provide information on child development based on results of the ASQ (Ages & Stages Questionnaire) screening; encourage play activities suitable for the child's developmental abilities, as well as routines-based interventions individualized to each family.

This may also involve coaching families to incorporate into their day-to-day routine the recommendations from other professionals. Your strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and ability to organize and prioritize is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong computer skills are necessary to succeed in this position.

This position is based in the Red Deer 49th Street Community Health Centre and provides services to families in Red Deer and throughout the surrounding communities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Child & Youth Care or a related field or equivalent education and experience.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Possession of a reliable vehicle for business use and work-related travel.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those with pediatric experience.
