The Edmonton Public Library is located on Treaty Six territory and the Homeland of the Metis Nation. EPL is committed to a strong and lasting relationship with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples.
In keeping with Edmonton Public Library's Community-Led Service model, we are looking for an Indigenous Services Consultant to connect, consult and collaborate with Indigenous communities in Edmonton and area.
This position provides expertise and support in the development and delivery of services for Indigenous communities, as well as in cultural competency, understanding and learning.

The Indigenous Services Consultant is a skilled relationship-builder, with a passion for making a difference.
The Liaison has in-depth knowledge and experience working with Indigenous communities and demonstrates an understanding of historical context, cultural practices, protocols and Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Humanities, Political Science, Community Development, Native Studies or an equivalent discipline.
What do you need to bring to this position?
- Direct and indepth understanding of local Indigenous communities including Indigenous perspectives, histories, traditions, and protocols.
- Ability to assess community interests and needs.
- Ability to build and maintain sensitive and complex relationships.
- Ability to work effectively with people of all age levels and backgrounds; recognizing the needs of users from a wide variety of cultural, economic, social and educational backgrounds.
- Superior interpersonal, communication, negotiation, presentation and collaboration skills.
- Strong organizational and project leadership skills.
- The ability to work positively and effectively within a team environment.
- A commitment to upholding the Canadian Federation of Library Associations position statements on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion.

Pay Band:
$ $56.97 per hour*- Approximately $81,568 - $104,098 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.
Note:
- Satisfactory background screening is required for this position which includes a Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check.
- This position will require some travel throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas. Access to a vehicle for business purposes is strongly preferred.
