To support this goal, the North Zone Addictions and Mental Health department has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with the NZ Assertive Outreach Team. Addiction & Mental Health co-ordinates, plans, delivers and evaluates a provincewide network of AHS programs and contracted services. We work with a common purpose: to promote understanding and compassion, to encourage healthy behaviour, and attitudes, and to help all Albertans achieve well-being throughout their lives. The base location is negotiable within Fox Creek, Valleyview, Beaverlodge and surrounding areas located within Treaty 8 on traditional lands of the First Nation peoples of the Cree and Dene. As an RPN, you will be a member of an interdisciplinary team and provide a range of nursing support to AOS clients through a recovery-oriented framework. Services you offer may include psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, physical health assessment, medication management and administration, collaborating with psychiatrists, and other nursing duties as required.     Description:

    As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).     Additional Required Qualifications:

    In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Use of Microsoft tools. Experience in health care or settings with transferable experiences is preferred, (Inpatient Psychiatry, Acute care, Psychiatric Emergency). Knowledge and experience working with diverse and marginalized populations using an inclusive lens of equity & diversity. Knowledge and application of trauma informed care, harm reduction and Psychosocial Rehabilitation. Understanding of the impact of severe mental illness and stigma.
