General Accountability:


  • Provides project budget preparation, cost control, and schedule management for the Department's Capital projects and Operating budget activities, through various planning, analysis, monitoring and reporting functions. Develops planning systems to ensure project execution and control. Analyzes and monitors project cost and schedule performance to ensure that the project will achieve planned objectives while minimizing the exposure to risks. Ensures the timely reporting of project costs and schedule performance to facilitate effective decisionmaking.

Key Job Functions:


  • Provides key project cost and schedule management support for the Rail Cars & Shops Department's multimilliondollar vehicle overhaul programs and budgets through various preparation, planning, analysis/monitoring and reporting functions, specifically:
  • Preparing monthly Project Statius Reports;
  • Preparing cash flow and expenditure projections against Budget;
  • Investigating and analyzing cost variances to determine impacts.
  • Develops planning systems required to demonstrate how projects will be executed and controlled
  • Analyzes and monitors project cost and schedule performance ensuring that the projects will achieve planned objectives while minimizing the exposure to risk
  • Ensures the timel reporting of project costs and schedule performance to facilitate effective decisionmaking
  • Participation in the TTC customer service Ambassador Program
  • Responsible for treating passengers and employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a serviceprovider and an employer.

Education and Experience:


  • Completion of a postsecondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (e.g. Business Administration, Math, Accounting) combined with several years of related work experience or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Relevant experience gained in cost and scheduling control for large multidisciplined projects

Additional Requirements:


  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance principles, standard accounting principles, practices and methods required for capital and operating budget preparation
  • Good knowledge of the concepts and practices relating to project controls and project management systems
  • Must possess sound judgement; proven analytical, problemsolving and decisionmaking skills; strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate with others in order to accomplish objectives
  • Must have or obtain knowledge of the TTC's budgeting process/procedures and relevant cost control and financial systems
  • Experience with maintenance and vehicle overhaul programs considered an asset
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
