Summary


The Liberal Party of Canada is seeking a Human Resource Generalist for an opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff to support Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team's work to keep Canada moving forward.

Reporting to the Sr.

Director of Regulatory Compliance & Administration, the Human Resources Generalist will facilitate the talent acquisition process, monitor trends in compensation and benefits, and help ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment laws & regulations, including occupational health and safety and human rights legislation.

Additionally, this position will aid in providing the leadership team with guidance on performance management, employee relations, employee engagement, diversity-equity-inclusion, policy & procedure development, and HR compliance.

What you'll be doing

  • Work with the various departments to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, which will include recruiting, retention planning and succession planning
  • Work with HR coordinators, management and other staff when human resources specific questions and issues arise
  • Administer and execute routine tasks in special circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing and terminations
  • Facilitate the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, assisting with interviewing, and hiring qualified job applicants
  • Monitor and provide guidance to help promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Work with senior management to oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations
  • Maintain compliance with federal and provincial employment laws & regulations including occupational health and safety and human rights legislation, as well as ensuring policies and practices are sufficient to maintain compliance
  • Monitor changes in trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law
  • Work with the Office Coordinator in the division of responsibilities for the daytoday operation of the organization's work locations in multiple jurisdictions
  • Other duties as required

You'll need to have

  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma or equivalent certification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of one year of human resource experience is preferred, further experience considered an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Intermediate to excellent French language skills considered an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Selfstarter, able to handle multiple projects at a time
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Proficiency with ADP WFN and MS Dynamics considered an asset

Your working conditions

  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and operational objectives
  • May be required to work unusual hours and periods at an accelerated pace, with the need to balance short deadlines and competing priorities
  • Ottawa based occasional travel within Canada may be required
  • Permanent, Fulltime position
