    Excel Personnel is proud to be entrusted with the task of recruiting the next Controller for our valued client's Kamloops, BC operations in Forestry, Oil & Gas and Civil sectors.

    Are you an experienced Financial Controller who has a CPA Designation? This is an amazing opportunity to work for a large and diversified company.

    About Financial Controller Position:
    The client's dynamic finance team has 3 Controllers located in 3 locations. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Kamloops Controller will oversee the accounting and administration staff for a number of the companies.


    The Controller will compile and provide financial statements to the Board of Directors and departmental managers each month, monitor and report job costing results, will ensure regulatory requirements are accurate and up to date, will perform various analysis as needed, will oversee HR issues in both non-union and union environments, and is ultimately responsible for the administrative team.

    Qualifications

    • MUST have CPA designation with significant high-level accounting experience (though candidates with a good combination of education and full-cycle accounting experience will be considered)
    • 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role in a forestry, resource or equipment-based industry
    • Previous supervisory experience
    • Strong document control skills
    • Proficient in either AccPac + or Sage 300
    • Advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills
    • Confidence in financial reporting abilities
    • Ability to think strategically in a dynamic and challenging environment
    • Extraordinary attention to detail
    • Capable of performing a variety of tasks simultaneously.
    • Quick learner and comfortable mastering all required systems and programs
    • Flexibility and comfort with non-routine assignments and tasks
    • Strong interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with other departments
    • Comfortable working with people at all levels in the company


    Primary Responsibilities
    • Cash flow management and weekly reporting
    • Forecasting for multiple companies
    • Maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts including the preparation of monthly working papers
    • Preparation of monthly internal financial statements
    • Working with external accounting firm to ensure timely completion of annual external statements and to minimize risk on an ongoing basis
    • Working with the administrative team to ensure internal controls are maintained and consistent with ownerships expectations
    • Maintenance of job and equipment costing reports
    • Preparation of various ad hoc reports to support operations staff
    • Other related responsibilities as required.

    Compensation:
    • Competitive Salary: Negotiated based on experience, starting from $120,000 - $140,000 per annum
    • Work-Life Balance: Monday to Friday schedule with a 37.5 to 40-hour work week.

    Additional Information: This position involves working with a variety of internal and external software programs, as well as the reconciliation and validation of revenue calculations against various tariffs.
