    We currently have an opening for a Legal Assistant, Float in our Calgary office. The Legal Assistant, Float will proactively provide legal professionals with a high level of support in an effort to improve practice efficiency, including coordinating client-related activities. This position requires an excellent multi-tasker with strong administrative and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, and have excellent client service and organizational skills.

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides support for assistants when required which includes composing, transcribing, reviewing, editing and auditing legal drafts and correspondence
  • Provides secretarial support which may include routine document revisions and preparing correspondence, memos, charts and other documents
  • Provides clerical support including filing, drafting and copying
  • Undertakes responsibilities of an assistant in his/her absence, such as illness or vacation
  • Handles confidential materials and documents
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Position Requirements:

    Education and Experience

    Completion of Community College Legal Assistant program as well as work experience in a legal professional environment, and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Knowledge and Skills

  • Interpersonal skills in order to effectively work with many contacts
  • Organizational skills to efficiently prioritize among numerous tasks
  • Written communication skills including knowledge of grammatical and proof-reading procedures required in the composition on documents
  • Knowledge of software applications used in a legal office environment
  • Strong attention to detail
