To provide support for the long-term strategy building of planned flying as it relates to crew pairings and providing coverage for the future flying.

With priority focus on reviewing the future planned schedules starting from as far out as those used in Long Range Plan (LRP) to closer into next commercial season and providing pairing optimization run results which can be used by different groups to calculate resource requirements such as manpower.


Responsibilities:


  • Identify key timeframes to continuously monitor and maintain current optimization results from Jeppesen Pairing Optimizer to ensure transparency in what the expected flying will require (IE. Representative months).
  • Work closely with leadership groups to identify the network planning shortand longterm goals as they impact crewing requirements.
  • Organize working groups to review new/updated operations and communicate what the baseline requirements will be and what methodology is used to set it.
  • Monitor season trends to see what operations are required to change or at high risk to change in following season. Offer feedback of options to leadership.
  • Provide details to other branches on the evolution of requirements based on the implementation of the corporate goals (IE Seasonal hotel inventory, standard DHD requirements on key markets, Peak travel DHD requirements).
  • Deliver summary of high costs/risk operations which need review and provide costs analysis of change at a high level which can be used to build a business case for that change.
  • Be current on evolving global conditions which can produce challenges for resources such as hotel accommodations (IE hotel requirements transparency during Olympics)
  • Design and deliver reports related to values reporting on total risk operations such as percentage of pairings planned within a variance of maximum duty or minimum rest.
  • Record and maintain the planned budget costs of the month and provide summary of evolution as updated are received.
  • Liaise with CUPE/ALPA monthly to keep them abreast up upcoming changes to route opportunities
  • Additional supplemental duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • University degree, college diploma or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Proven analytical, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to look at the big picture and prioritize projects to achieve goals
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Creative problemsolving skills
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and to prioritize heavy workloads and tight deadlines with mínimal supervision.
  • An understanding of the airline operational environment and Air Canada systems and processes.
  • Experience with optimization systems an asset.
  • Experience with flight crew scheduling or planning, an asset.
  • Familiarity with the CUPE/ALPA Collective Agreement, an asset.
