Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) is a Crown corporation responsible for arranging supports and services for adults with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Role:
As an Administrative Assistant at the Provincial Assessment Centre, you will provide administrative support to the management and staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Answering the telephone and forwarding calls and responding to general inquiries
- Greeting, screening and directing visitors
- transcribing from Dictaphone and/or handwritten notes from doctors,
- completing administrative and financial forms,
- typing documents
- filing
- records management (including off-siting records management),
- maintenance of manuals and records
- data entry into computer systems.
- coordinating facility maintenance
This is the role for you if you:
- have advanced clerical experience
- have excellent listening skills
- are able to clearly communicate to a wide range of individuals
- have excellent attention to detail
- have strong organizational and time management skills
- are able to manage several concurrent tasks
- have strong communication and interpersonal skills
This position deals with highly confidential and sensitive material within the context of services delivered to clients residing within a mental health facility.
Given the location of this position, you must be prepared to interact with potentially unpredictable, aggressive, and mentally challenged clients.
Qualifications:
- Grade twelve diploma or equivalent education
- A combination of 3 years of clerical/administrative support experience, education, and/or training in a mental healthcare setting
- Certificate of completion in medical terminology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong MS Word and MS Excel skills
- Minimum 50 WPM typing skills
Additional Info:
This is an auxiliary position. Auxiliaries may be hired for project work, or to cover vacancies or leaves of varying lengths.
Term/Status:
Temporary with an end date of October 1, 2023
Classification/Salary:
Clerk R- Starts at $23.96 per hour

Location:
The Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC) is the designated tertiary care mental health service for individuals who have a developmental disability and a concurrent mental illness or behavioural concern.
This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with a work-from-home option 1 day a week.
