Voice & Speech 3b,

from January 1 to April 30, 2024 (Winter Term), including the preparation of assignments and the evaluation of students. This course is a requirement for students enrolled in the Honors BA in Theatre (Acting Program). It is a continuation of THEA and focuses on the speaking voice. The object is for students to release the voice and develop an open, flexible sound. Dialects, accents, and a variety of text will also be explored. This Part-Time Academic is required to provide a Method of Assessment in consultation with full-time Acting Program faculty. As well, the instructor is required to calculate final marks in time for student interviews that take place at the end of the winter term. Final marks must then be submitted online. This position works in collaboration with full-time Acting Program faculty, is expected to participate in the day-to-day administration of the Acting Program and reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
1) MA, MFA, or equivalent;
-3) teaching experience at the post-secondary level, with evidence of effective teaching
ability;
4) professional experience as an actor and/or coach; and
5) training ability in the following areas: vocal production, IPA, speech, accents and
dialects and text analysis.
