Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Legal Director, some of the key responsibilities of the Lawyer are:

  • Conduct of assigned files to professional standards and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Legal Aid Saskatchewan & the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
  • Conduct preliminary inquiries, pretrials, case conferences, trials, reviews & appeals.
  • Negotiate competent resolutions of files to achieve fair, early and lasting outcomes for clients.
  • Represent clients at bail hearings, guilty pleas and remands both inperson and remotely.
  • Work independently on cases as assigned by the Legal Director.
  • Complete and accurate time entry and record keeping.
Position Requirements

  • Experience in criminal law.
  • Experience in family law.
  • Law degree from a recognized law school.
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan.


  • Valid Driver's License

  • Class
  • Technologically savvy with a keen enthusiasm for learning new systems including, computer literacy in MS Office, webbased legal research tools, and other webbased resources.
  • Commitment to social justice and an understanding of the needs and challenges faced by lowincome and marginalized communities.
  • Demonstrated time management and ability to deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
