Job Summary:

We are excited to announce that we are gearing up for our 24th annual Calgary International Film Festival. In order to further our Industry Week Growth Strategy, we are hiring an Industry Specialist. We are looking for an energetic individual who is detail-oriented and excited about creating memorable experiences for Calgary's, Alberta's and Canada's screen-based industries

This is a permanent, year round position beginning May 1, 2023 or earlier.


Day to Day Responsibilities:


  • Curate Industry Week Programming under the guidance of the Artistic Director
  • Work with Industry Partners to secure panelists in collaboration with our Engagement team
  • Build and deepen relationships with Albertan and Canadian Industry Partners
  • Expand and operate the Screen Industries Career Expo in collaboration with our Engagement team
  • Secure and oversee Hospitality Partners (Hotel Partners / Industry Party or Reception Partners) under the guidance of the Artistic Director
  • Ensure Industry Week and Industry Relations budgets remain within targets
  • Oversee sales of industry passes, including working hands on with our Box Office software with guidance from our Artistic Director and Operations teams
  • Design and execute a targeted Industry Pass sales campaign in collaboration with our Marketing Department
  • Create and send the daily festival Industry Newsletter with guidance from our Marketing Department
  • Oversee the Industry Relations Coordinator in securing guest flight and accommodations
  • Curate social activities for Industry Guests
  • Coordinate technical support for for Industry Week
  • During the festival, produce lively and engaging events; engage with Industry Partners and guests; secure all necessary spaces and materials for Industry Week events under the guidance of the Artistic Director
  • Send out the Industry Week Survey and collect and report results to CIFF team under the guidance of the Artistic Director
  • Day to day supervision of Industry Relations Coordinator and any Industry Week Volunteers
  • Other duties as required

Job Qualifications:


  • Marketing, Event Marketing, and/or Event Management experience
  • A high attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess the ability to work reliably and responsibly, both independently and in a team environment
  • Aptitude for fostering positive relationships
  • Experience with managing steep learning curves in job environments with a high degree of variability
  • Independent problem solving capacity
  • A passion for the nonprofit sector and more specifically the arts community and screenbased industry is desirable
  • Experience with Asana, Slack and event management software is an asset

During the interview, we'll be looking for the following:

  • A clear demonstration of your previous marketing, event marketing, and/or event management experience
  • What strategies and experience you have in developing and growing business relationships
  • Examples of your approach to the demands of highenergy festival and event environments

Approximate Hours of Work

  • An approximation of hours per week is below, dependent on operational needs and business flow. It is understood that shift work, weekend work, and work on statutory holidays may or will be required._
