    School District No.54, located in the beautiful Bulkley Valley of Northwestern BC, seeks a visionary, innovative teaching Vice - Principal to join the Smithers Secondary school community. This school is located in Smithers, B.C., and is projected to serve approximately 670 secondary students in the school year. The successful candidate will be an experienced, passionate and exemplary educator with demonstrated leadership qualities. They can expect to work collaboratively as part of a three-person administrative team to promote a culture that fosters learning, inquiry and engagement at the school and the district level.

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative leader who is also an experienced educator who leads change and educational transformation. The successful candidate will develop strong relationships with staff to enhance student learning, build school community, and develop school systems to foster cross-curricular and project-based practice. The Vice Principal will have exemplary inter-personal and relational skills, as well as, strong organizational and planning skills to initiate and implement school change within the framework of the BC Ed Plan.

    The preferred candidates for these positions will have the following qualifications, skills and competencies:

    a Master's degree or proven enrolment in a Master's program in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction or related field

    demonstrated leadership and exemplary practice in instruction, assessment and reporting

    ability and a strong commitment to fostering a positive, supportive, and effective school culture and climate

    successful experience with improving outcomes for Indigenous learners and a commitment to a journey toward Truth and Reconciliation

    effective organizational, conflict resolution, strong interpersonal and communication skills

    knowledge and experience in creating classroom and school experiences that support inclusion and success for all students

    demonstrated ability to support students, consult with parents, and work collaboratively with staff and community agencies

    implementing Ministry, District and School goals while establishing a culture of staff learning directly related to student achievement

    demonstrated skill and competence in the use of technology for teaching, learning, and productivity

    SALARY: The starting annual salary for this full-time Administrator position is expected to be between $133,158 and $144,737 (Effective August 1,2024). We also offer a competitive benefits and pension package.
