Educational Program Assistants are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 5047 (CUPE). The CUPE collective agreement can be accessed online.


Rate of Pay:

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar which includes time off at Christmas, March Break, and Summer break.


Daily Hours of Work:
50% Position = 3.5 hours (includes one 15-minute paid break)
80% Position = 6.1 hours (includes 1⁄2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)
100% Position = 7.5 hours (includes 1⁄2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)

Job Requirements:
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Light Lifting (up to 20 pounds)

Trained or Willing to be Trained:
  • Toileting
  • Personal Care
  • Behaviour Management Support (Assist with implementation and tracking of behavior targets, De-escalation strategies, Foster prosocial and conflict resolution skills, Implement calming strategies)
  • Other Medical Related Procedures

Assets:
  • Experience Working with Down's Syndrome
  • Experience Working with Autism
  • A related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, including a formal practicum placement will be considered an asset.
