SCOPE
Reporting to the Portfolio Supervisor, the incumbent prepares surfaces to be painted, paints, varnishes, and stains. They mix dyes, paint, and other substances that are used on interior and exterior surfaces of buildings.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and mix paint, dyes and other protective substances; blend colors.
  • Use detergents for the cleaning of surfaces to be painted.
  • Remove coatings with the aid of remover, scraper, hot iron, torch, or other appropriate tools or substances.
  • Verify and inspect assigned areas.
  • Complete forms and routine reports using a computer.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma (DSS) with a completed module related to the trade's program or Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) with two years of related work experience OR High School Diploma (DSS) with four years of related work experience.
  • Basic knowledge (Level 3) of spoken English and French.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Physical ability as attested by successful completion of a medical evaluation to the University's satisfaction (e

g:
lift related materials approx. 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, climb, bend, twist and stretch).
