The Role
We are currently recruiting a detail-oriented and experienced

Material Coordinator/Purchaser

Job Details

  • 8 hours/day, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Work will be primarily inside the Fabrication facility, however some field work may also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Create and issue Purchase Orders
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials for projects and project estimating
  • Maintain PO log with uptodate estimated and received PO amounts and received dates
  • Purchase and receive project materials referencing client approved manufacturers' lists (AML), ANSI, ASME, API and client standards
  • Organize received materials into packs to reduce errors when picking materials for further processing by fabrication shop
  • Advise management of shortages, surplus, quarantined materials which could impact production
  • Mark & color code all received materials as per project requirements
  • Source and evaluate suppliers/vendors to ensure cost effectiveness and product quality
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and contracts
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels based on project requirements
  • Work closely with various departments/groups to understand inventory needs and forecast demand
  • Coordinate and oversee the shipping and receiving process, ensuring timely and accurate shipments
  • Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and completeness to packing slips and purchase orders
  • Prepare shipping documents, labels and packing materials as needed
  • Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pickups and deliveries
  • Conduct inspections of received goods to ensure they meet quality standards
  • Address and resolve any quality issues with suppliers promptly
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all purchasing, shipping and receiving activities
  • Generate reports on inventory levels, procurement costs and shipping/receiving performance
  • Enter received quantities into SpoolFab
  • Review material MTRs for compliance with client, ANSI, ASME, API standards
  • Complete Material Receiving Reports (MRRs)
  • Opportunity to progress into Estimating/Project Management role
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience with client AML's and specs
  • Experience with ASME, ANSI and API standards
  • Proven experience quoting and estimating materials for a project and then ordering/purchasing material in project is awarded
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Detail oriented, thorough and diligent
  • Proficient in using inventory management and procurement software
  • Previous experience in a fabrication shop would be an asset
  • Previous experience with Acorn or SpoolFab would be an asset
  • Self starter with a strong work ethic, positive attitude who is also a team player
  • Ability to problem solve identify weak points in our procurement systems and provide solutions
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Forklift experience is an asset
  • First Aid Certification is an asset
